Hello! 🐳

I'm Weichu, a student at Hwa Chong Institution. I have a passion for using technology to improve the lives of everyone. I specialise in web development and cybersecurity, and I love working with a lively team to problem solve.

In my free time, I also dabble in photography and drama.

overview

The e-Message Board used for internal communications within Hwa Chong Institution had not been updated since 2016. With an unresponsive outdated UI, using it was far from a frictionless experience, which actively discouraged students and staff from reading their messages.

Through a major redesign, intelligent-EMB was born. This message board client delivered various new features, greatly enhancing user experience.

  • essential information displayed in a beautiful way
  • responsive design for all screen sizes
  • filters to see through the clutter
  • session restoration reducing unnecessary logins
  • dark and light mode

Suffice to say, I learnt a lot along the way. It was my first time using many of the technologies, so I gained a great deal of agility in using them. Backend work was surprisingly challenging, with CORS and serverless computing being rather new concepts to me. Ultimately, the challenges were useful learning experiences.
